The House
Bill H.5151, which included the repeal of essential protections for Massachusetts and our communities, is headed to the Senate.
Please contact your senators now and keep contacting them! They need to understand that bringing nukes back to Massachusetts is unacceptable. We have safe guards that should not be undermined. There is nothing stopping Healey from moving forward to “investigate nukes”. What she wants to do is create a super highway for nuclear power in which the people don't have a voice by repealing all the safe guards that were put in place in the Act of 1982.
Why won't our governor protect our communities?Why won't our legislators protect our air and water—our environment—from thermal and radioactive pollution? There’s big talk about “affordability.” So why won't they protect us from nuclear power's rising costs? Why won't they deal with the toxic radioactive waste at the reactor sites in the state before embarking on an untested and experimental nuclear program?
Why are they willing to make us nuclear guinea pigs again while we live with the failed policy of the nuclear industry and the most toxic waste that was ever created?
Why are our legislators willing to abandon us? We’ve been calling our legislators in the past months. Thanks to all who've done so. But we need to keep making our voices heard. Legislators need to hear from all of us to protect our communities, our state, from this failed industry.

VT Energy Bill H.601
We’re keeping an eye out on the status of
Bill H.601 (An act relating to the Clean Energy Standard).
The Scott Administration is behind the Bill which would label nuclear power as clean, allow more nuclear waste to be stored at Vermont Yankee, and eliminate the statutory requirement that the General Assembly approve any new nuclear power plants in Vermont. Kerrick Johnson, the Commissioner of the Department of Public Service, has called legislative approval “redundant”.
It is important to reach out to your legislators and let them know that H.601 should not be considered for passage.

Amendment #31 to Bill H.5151
Preserving Environmental Safety
Last week, MA Representatives Scarsdale of Pepperell and Sabadosa of Northampton moved to amend Bill H.5151 by striking out section 55; the section that would repeal the 1982 Act that required a state referendum on nuclear power.
Bill H.5151 (An Act relative to energy affordability, clean power, and economic competitiveness) was passed by the House of Representatives on February 27, 2026.
Although we weren't able to strike the repeal of the 1982 Act, there were legislators who stood up for democracy! Please send a big thank you to the 18 legislators who signed on to Amendment #31.
The Bill is now going to the Senate and we are still working to stop Gov. Healey from undermining democracy and bringing nukes back to New England. We want the repeal removed or not to come up in any new Bill.

I'm writing to thank you for co-sponsoring Amendment 31 to H.5151 to remove the repeal of Section 503 of the Acts of 1982. I appreciate your willingness to take this issue on, given how controversial it was.
I support to remove the repeal from H5151 because:1) it is anti-democratic; 2) nuclear power and nuclear waste are a false and dangerous solution that will undermine the expansion of real renewables in the state; and 3) nuclear power is a toxic and the most expensive form of energy on the planet and will not only not help with affordability.

Support Amendment #31
The latest Massachusetts Bill (February 25, 2026) out of the House is
Bill H.5151. This bill contains the repeal of the Act from 1982 that gives people the right to determine their energy future in terms of nuclear power (page 95, Section 55).
Rep. Scarsdale and Rep. Sabadosa submitted Amendment 31 to strike the repeal of the 1982 Act. The House vote on Bill H.5151 will be tomorrow, Thursday February 26!
We need everyone to call their legislators to support Amendment 31 and keep the democracy alive in Massachusetts. Ask your friends to do the same.At a time when we need more support for conservation, energy efficiency, and renewables, the House legislators are cutting programs that help people cut costs and lead to greater energy independence. Included in the bill is a plan to cut back the Mass Save program, as well as cuts to solar. We need a renewable energy future, not false solutions from major polluters.
Don't let the State take away our right to determine our energy future.
